The congregation of First Presbyterian Church, represented by the church's Mission Committee, recently purchased and delivered complete bedding sets, assorted bath sets and a specially made picnic table for the Ouachita Children, Youth & Family Service's new covered outdoor group area.
"The mission statement at First Presbyterian Church states 'to care actively for the spiritual, material and intellectual needs of our congregation, our local community and our world.' And for almost 150 years First Presbyterian Church of Hot Springs has made giving to the community a priority," a church news release said.
The Mission Committee purchased the picnic table through the Ferncliff Conference Center in Little Rock. It was built by volunteers called the "Over the Hill Gang," a group of retired woodworkers who build special projects for area organizations and community groups at their Ferncliff facility. The picnic table was delivered by Ferncliff Executive Director Joel Gill.
"With immense gratitude, we thank First Presbyterian Church Mission Committee for their heartwarming donation of the picnic table, an expression of generosity that creates a space for genuine connection and memorable moments for the kids at Ouachita Children's Center," Ashley Thompson, executive director of Ouachita Children, Youth, & Family Services, said in the release.
"This certainly adds warmth to our recreation area and is certain to brighten our days," she said.
Thompson also noted when asked that the center could still use additional outdoor activity equipment including a few basketballs, pickleball sets and Frisbees.
