The Shack is a hamburger restaurant in Jessieville known for its Southern food such as catfish, chicken, ice cream and, of course, the Shackburger.

Nestled directly across from Jessieville High School, The Shack is great for a convenient quick bite if you are a local and if you are looking for a dive to discover, The Shack is worth the drive from Hot Springs.

There is indoor and outdoor seating available. On a windy day, I chose to eat in the truck, which is fine by me.

I walked up to the old-school ordering window that most drive-ins featured in the 1960s. After scanning the menu, the double Shackburger caught my eye, and I added fries and a drink, which landed the total just over $16.

Their fresh, made-to-order burger and fries took around 10 minutes to get and was stacked high but not overdone with condiments. The 10-minute wait time was excellent, considering they were full up inside and out for lunch.

I am not much of a fry person, but the portion of fries was perfect for me and they were very crispy while still being moist.

I gave my experience at The Shack four stars and would definitely be back to test drive one of their pulled pork sandwiches and shakes. I was not given napkins or ketchup in my bag; I would assume because of how busy they were. But Jessieville is a community of sharing -- I had noticed on the way to my truck and a lovely lady offered me her extras. I think she knew I had not received any.
