Magnet Cove honored with reward funds

MAGNET COVE -- Magnet Cove Elementary School was named one of 206 public school recognized as high performing schools through the Arkansas School Recognition and Rewards Program for the 2013-2014 school year.

Tripp Walter, Arkansas Public Resource Center staff attorney, presented a ceremonial check to Principal Jeff Eskola. Also present for the presentation were Lynda Samons, curriculum administrator, and Gail McClure, superintendent.

Named as a top 10 percent Reward School, Magnet Cove Elementary School received $29,253.93. Schools that were in the top 10 percent received $90.70 per student.

Schools receiving recognition funds established a committee to determine the best use of the funds. The committee included the principal, a teacher elected by the faculty, and a parent representative selected by the local Parent Teacher Association or another parental involvement group.

Schools may use the funds for faculty and staff bonuses, educational equipment and materials, or personnel to assist with improving or maintaining student performance.
