KoC charity rummage sale set for April 4-5, 11-12

Knights of Columbus Council 6419 is organizing the spring version of its two sales for 2014. Doors will open at 8 a.m. April 4 at the council property located at 3045 Spring St., just a block east of Westinghouse Road. Usual rummage sale items, furniture, appliances and lawn equipment will be available.

Sale proceeds will be allocated on a monthly basis to local charities, including Jackson House, Christian Charitable Medical Clinic, The Caring Place and Samaritan Ministries. Currently, the council disperses $3,317 each month, an amount that increases or decreases based on the proceeds from the previous sale (or if a sale is particularly good, it sometimes chooses to add another charity).

The sale of last October was a record, bringing in slightly more than $28,000 and beating the previous record sale by more than $4,000. To maintain or surpass those record sales is difficult. What the organization's men and women do happens only through the generosity of the donors and patrons.

Members continue driving about Garland County collecting donations. For the first time, it is accepting children's clothes, new-born to toddler. Please continue to help the Knights help others. To donate, please call Jim, 525-7022; Stan, 520-5974; or Tom, 767-1631.
