The first few years of a child's life are the most important in his or her development, according to experts. That's why hearing loss in young children can have such far-reaching effects. Undetected hearing loss can delay speech and language, affecting social and emotional growth as well as academic achievement. Hearing loss has a profound effect on each child's family and society as a whole.

The Miracle-Ear Foundation is working to ensure that kids who need hearing aids receive them.
