Friends of Library plans sale, membership drive

Friends of the Garland County Library organization is continuing its spring membership drive, according to membership chairman Kathy Reed in the press release. "We want to remind everyone that the Friends' annual spring super sale of used books is coming up soon, on April 30 to May 2, and a membership in the Friends of the Library gives you the privilege of attending the Preview Sale open only to members on the first day, April 30," Reed said.

Memberships may be obtained now at the library circulation desk by filling out a card and paying the annual $5 dues. Memberships will be available at the door of the library auditorium on Thursday. Dues, as well as book purchases, must be paid for in cash or with personal checks since the Friends are not able to accept debit or credit cards. The super sale will be open to the general public on Friday and Saturday with no admission charge.

Members who have previously paid their 2015 dues were mailed an admission card which, when presented at the sale door, will speed up their entry into the auditorium. Late joining members may pick up their cards at the door or those who forget the entry card will be able to have their membership verified from the membership list which Reed will have available at the Preview Sale. Anyone may join the group by paying the dues at the sale door on Thursday.

All proceeds from the sale, membership dues and other donations are used by the Friends of the Library to pay for books and equipment and to provide funds for many of the special programs and activities presented by the library. Last year, Friends gave more than $50,000 to the library.
