PEARCY -- The Lake Hamilton School District Parent Teacher Organization will conduct the inaugural Wolf Pride Color Run Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. to kick off homecoming week.

The run will be a 3K race, about 1.8 miles. It is planned as a noncompetitive, non-timed, fun run/walk.

"The Parent-Teacher Organization has been exploring different fundraising options for the coming year," said Angel Willis, president of the PTO. "Due to the popularity of the various color runs being held, we decided that it would be a great way to kick off homecoming week by hosting our own Wolf Pride Color Run. All of the money raised by the PTO is used to support teachers, students, and parents in the Lake Hamilton School District."

The preregistration fee for Lake Hamilton students and faculty is $15, and $20 for other participants. Preregistration will close Sept. 4. The registration after Sept. 4 will be $20 for students and faculty, and $25 for others.

The course will start and finish on Wolf Street between the junior high and high school. Several color stations will be placed along the course where participants will be dusted with maroon and gold to represent Lake Hamilton "Wolf Pride."

The color starch is 100 percent nontoxic, biodegradable and made in the United States. All participants are encouraged to wear glasses, sunglasses or goggles to protect their eyes.

For the safety of all participants, everyone is asked to leave pets at home. Water stations will be located at the 1K and 2K markers.

A finisher's water and snack station will be at the end of the race. Each registered participant will receive a goody bag containing a Wolf Pride Color Run race T-shirt to wear during the race as well as items donated by the supporting sponsors. Bags will be available for early pick up Sept. 18 at the Lake Hamilton Parent Center from noon to 6 p.m.

"The PTO approached the district regarding their desire to have the color run to kick off homecoming week," said Brian Bridges, communications coordinator. "After gaining approval, it has already transformed into something that everyone on our campus and in our community is excited about. I am sure this will be a tradition that carries on each year to begin our homecoming week festivities."

Registration forms and payment can be dropped off or mailed to the Parent Center with Attention to Angel Willis, PTO President, 209 Wolf St., Pearcy, AR 71913. Questions can be directed to Willis by calling 501-276-3736 or emailing [email protected]. Interested businesses or organization can discuss sponsorships with Willis.
