Centerpoint Primary School staff members, from left, Traci Revels, Vicki Wilson, Jenifer Pedron, Dana Owens, Erica Doster and Principal Rodney Whitfield were presented a plaque on behalf of the school at the Arkansas State Board of Education meeting in December for being named a National Blue Ribbon School. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan designated 340 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2014 based on overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed the award on fewer than 7,900 schools during its 32-year history.
