Magic Springs, Crystal falls to host inaugural Great Pig Out event

Magic Springs and Crystal Falls will host the inaugural Great Pig Out from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the park's Lakeside Theater.

The aroma of bacon will engulf the park as guests enjoy samples of grilled bacon from various vendors, including Bleu Monkey Grill, Trejo's Mexican Restaurant and Ohio Club.

"The park will be themed out in bacon," said Kathy Marchese, the park's sales and marketing director. "The aroma of bacon will be throughout the park, we've got a huge grill from Arvest Bank that's coming in. We'll be grilling the bacon and that's what's going to get the aroma of bacon throughout the park."

Marchese said different forms of bacon will be available to sample, such as lumberjack funnel cake, maple fudge and fried chicken bacon.

Live entertainment by Larry Womack and various activities including a bacon costume contest will keep the crowd going.

"We're encouraging our guests to theme out, dress in your craziest costume for a contest," Marchese said.

Steve Honeycutt, the park's general manager, said some of the Magic Springs employees will wear bacon costumes to add to the ambience.

Sponsors for the event are Kroger, Petit Jean Meats, Bleu Monkey and Jimmy John's.

Admission to the Great Pig Out is free with general admission ticket or 2016 Magic Springs Season Pass.
