Dear editor:
Many of us contend that the "creator" of all that is, has always been and always will be. And it is through evidence, that we believe this "creator" is not an anthropomorphic person in the sky watching down, punishing and bringing about destruction through wars, disease and global catastrophes. Nor do we believe this "creator" intended to create a world for just one species. Evidence shows that this mysterious "creator" has allowed many species to come into being and to become extinct and has allowed for the relatively recent species (humankind) to acquire commanding power.
And this current prevalent life form, has brought about conditions that threaten not only his own existence, but also the existence of all life as we know it. Why does the "creator of us all" allow the brutality of war and the destruction of our environment to go on and on? How long before we finally acknowledge that as we destroy the world around us, we destroy ourselves?
The connectivity of the world continues to grow. The Internet is making a worldwide interrelated force of one. The big picture this mysterious world is showing us, is that all that is, is interrelated and interdependent.
Humankind is the dominant, consciously aware and controlling species. Peace, justice, balance and the sharing of this abundant earth is the message that comes calling forth, needing to be recognized if we are to survive. And that guiding pattern is the key. Yet, contrary to this, it is the implements of war that the dominant species allows to continue to pervade and dictate. But by continuing to fight for control and dominance, only more division, separation and unbalance are created.
As crazy as it might seem to some within the narrow beliefs of the fanatically religious, the true prayer of our species should be for all to lay down their weapons and conflicting beliefs and try compassion. Fear needs to be overcome with faith. The implements of war have not worked. Faith in peace and love needs to be given a chance to grow and thrive. Let's try working together with cooperation and care. The barriers we have created are built in fear and mistrust. Religions must not be at war with one another, if we are to move forward. Our "creator" allowed the creation of all the religions that exist. How can our "creator" be at war with "Himself?" Have faith and recognize the message that tells us, we and they are one.
And yes, it is time to recognize that our mysterious "God" does not interfere with what goes on, on our planet. If "He" did, "He" would surely come to our rescue. Wouldn't an omnipotent God have the power to open up the sky and speak to all? So why doesn't He? What is He waiting for? Truly, this is not the way He operates. Our only conclusion must be that God's work is truly our own. Our survival or destruction is in our hands. Compassion, the fundamental message of Jesus, Buddha and other sacred writings are calling out and might be the only way.
