Earth Angel

In the United States, less than 35 percent of households and 10 percent of businesses recycle regularly. These numbers indicate only a small improvement in participation in the past 15 years, despite billions of dollars invested in awareness campaigns, standardized recycling labels, increased opportunities for recycling and improved sorting techniques. Increasing participation in the U.S. to 75 percent would have an equivalent environmental impact to removing 50 million cars from roadways each year, add 1.5 million jobs to the economy and further protection of natural resources.

The city of Hot Springs offers the Earth Angel Recycling Program curbside collection service. Earth Angel bins are free and curbside collection takes place every other week. Materials acceptable for curbside collection includes aluminum cans, phone books, newspaper, corrugated cardboard and plastic bottles with necks smaller than their base.

Join with neighbors and start recycling today. To receive an Earth Angel Recycling Program bin or to find more information about recycling in Hot Springs, contact Solid Waste at 321-6911.
