Flute ensemble to host fundraiser for Garland County Humane Society

The Hot Springs Flute Ensemble will host a Howling Halloween fundraiser concert for the Garland County Humane Society at 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3819 Central Ave. Admission is by donation, either monetary or pet food or supplies.

Conducted by Kristin Grant, the group will feature soprano Robin Williams singing "This Is Halloween" from "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," accompanied by the flute ensemble and Cantate. A parade of adoptable pets and door prizes will be featured. Music will include "March of the Meddling Lawn Gnomes," "The Harlequin Suite," "Dance of the Comedians from the Bartered Bride," "Beckett's Whisper," "The Comedians Gallop" and "The Entertainer."

Flutists performing are piccoloists Lynn Clardy and Donna Toler and C flutists Payton Teague, Marcia Gilmore, Rebecca Irwin, Priscilla Wacaster, Debbie Reed, Robin Williams, Harriet Reynolds, Janet Moore, Deonne Carson, Janis Hopper, Hal Thompson, Josie Carson, Leoni Bermejo, Kajal Bharany, Marilyn Coffman, Ann Weik, Sally Matthews, and Leah Venable.

Alto flutists are Sara Ferril, Mikayla Lovell, Steve Bonner, Ann Smedley and Kathy Skinner. Bass flutists are Jackie Flowers, Beverly Hegwood, Rhonda Hall, Ronald Johnson, and John Skinner.

Contra Bass flutists are Sarah-Marie Linneman and Aishani Singh.

The HSFE, a nonprofit organization for area flutists, provides educational opportunities for above average student players who are mentored by the adult players in the group. They are affiliated with the National Flute Association and provide educational seminars for the community. New members are welcome. Loaner flutes are available.
