An afternoon fight in the parking lot of a local shopping center led to the arrest of a local man for allegedly smashing a woman's car window and injuring her child with flying glass.

Montez Saquan Dixon, 24, who lists a Cindy Street address, was taken into custody shortly after 5:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Higdon Ferry Road and charged with misdemeanor counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and first-degree criminal mischief, each punishable by up to one year in jail.

He was later released on $2,000 bond and is set to appear Oct. 16 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs police responded to the parking lot of Sam's Club, 1368 Higdon Ferry Road, in reference to a fight around 5:30 p.m. Officer Cynthia Howerton spoke to a woman who said she and her boyfriend had been attacked by a known suspect, identified as Dixon.

She said she was a passenger in her vehicle, a gold 2010 Kia Rio, driven by her boyfriend, with their child in the car. She said they were driving toward the AT&T store when they were stopped by a burgundy Nissan Sentra occupied by Dixon.

She said Dixon got out of the Sentra and jumped on top of her vehicle toward her boyfriend and tried to pull him out of the car. Her boyfriend got out and the two men started fighting on the ground, she said.

She and two unknown females who were with Dixon intervened and were eventually able to break up the fight. She said she and her boyfriend got back into her car and tried to drive away when Dixon broke her rear window, causing an estimated $300 in damages.

Dixon left the scene on foot, but was located in a nearby parking lot and taken into custody.

It was determined the couple's child had suffered an injury to his face from the broken car window. LifeNet arrived on scene and reportedly recommended further treatment because some of the glass got into the child's eye, the affidavit states.

The child was transported to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.
