Meter reader reports assault, robbery Friday

A meter reader was reportedly attacked and robbed Friday afternoon while checking a meter at a local residence, according to a Garland County sheriff's incident report.

The victim, 20, of Hot Springs, an employee of Olameter Corp., told investigators that around 4:30 p.m. Friday he was checking a meter at a residence in the 300 block of Lookout Point when he heard someone yell, "Hey!"

He said he was suddenly struck on the right side of his face and head with an unknown object, knocking him to the ground. The robber reportedly took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim who never saw his attacker.

Deputies noted the victim had abrasions and swelling to the right side of his face and forehead, but he declined medical treatment. The incident was still under investigation Monday.
