A parolee was arrested on multiple felony charges following a traffic stop late Tuesday after he reportedly admitted to having a gun and drugs in his possession.

Shawn Michael Obryant, 27, who lists a Randallwood Drive address, was taken into custody shortly after 10:30 p.m. and charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, punishable by up to life in prison, possession of a firearm by certain persons, punishable by up to 20 years, possession of a controlled substance, Xanax, with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to six years, and a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver.

Obryant was being held on zero bond and appeared Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 10 p.m., Garland County Sheriff's Sgt. Joshua Cannon was working DWI step grant enforcement in the area of Central and Hobson avenues and got behind a gray Mazda which he noted was traveling 20 mph in a 35 mph zone and veered across the center line twice.

After the vehicle turned onto Orange Street, Cannon made a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Obryant, who was "visibly shaking" as he explained why he had stopped him. A computer check revealed Obryant was on parole with a search waiver on file.

Cannon asked Obryant if there was anything illegal in the car and he allegedly stated, "I ain't gonna lie. There is a bunch of illegal (expletive) in here." Obryant then allegedly admitted to having a gun in his waistband, Xanax and THC wax.

The deputy had Obryant exit the vehicle and removed a loaded Glock 9-mm from his waistband. In searching him further, he reportedly found a container with 23 Xanax pills and another container with 11.5 grams of THC wax.

Obryant was reportedly previously convicted in 2013 in Garland County for possession of a firearm by certain persons and in Clark County for two counts of commercial burglary and two counts of theft of property.

In addition to the felony and misdemeanor charges, he was cited for driving left of center.
