Master Gardeners announce Yard of the Month

The Garland County Master Gardeners have chosen the home of Ron and Linda Holt at 113 Dino as the May residential winners of Yard of the Month.

The Holts moved to their residence four years ago following Ron Holt's retirement as superintendent of the Malvern school system.

"Their love for flowers is evidenced in their front and backyards. Lantanas are planted across the front by the mailbox. As you enter their driveway, you are greeted with boxwoods on each side of the drive that continue across the front of their house. They are tiered with holly bushes behind them. A large flower bed in the front contains knockout roses and ground cover. The front sidewalk is lined with azaleas and interspersed with annuals. Flower beds greet you on the sides of the house as you progress to the backyard where you will find several seating areas to relax and enjoy all the flower beds, watch the birds at their feeders and the bird baths. A large patio provides an area where you can sit and listen to the water flowing in a creek at the back of their yard. Plantings in their backyard include pampas grass, rose of Sharon, quince, forsythia, red Bud and dogwood trees, azaleas, hydrangea, hibiscus, and various blooming flowers in pot containers.
