"I was born into an abundance of entrepreneurial spirit," says Kristin Goslee Akins, aesthetician and owner of Guru Skin Care Studio.
Her grandfather, the late Charles Goslee, founded Goslee and Goslee Accounting in 1948, grew the business from just one client, and was joined by his son, Bobby Goslee, in 1970. While her father, Bobby, is a successful accountant, his entrepreneurial passions really boomed while buying and developing real estate -- condos and Central Avenue Storage, to name a few.
Kristin's mom, Karen Jester Smith, owned two incredible women's clothing boutiques then followed her love of yoga into another family owned business. In 2007, Kristin and Karen teamed up to open and operate Nurture Day Spa and Yoga Studio, which closed in 2012 after Kristin's move to Chicago. Kim Goslee, her stepmom, began Kim Goslee Interiors in 2001 and has continued to flourish as a talented Interior Designer, always cultivating a symbiotic relationship with homeowners to meet their specific styles.
"Growing up surrounded by parents who work for themselves has bolstered my affinity for owning my own business," Kristin says. "I was raised in a family environment that reflected hard work, following passions, and being the boss back to me as a dream worth pursuing."
After owning and selling a successful skin care studio in Chicago, Kristin moved back to Hot Springs to be close to family and friends. She established Guru Skin Care Studio in 2017 and continues to provide completely customized skin care treatments including facials, peels, microdermabrasion, brow shaping, lash lifts, plus brow and lash tinting.
Kristin emphasizes that "my treatment menu is simple because everything is tailored to my client's unique skin care needs and concerns." Skin Care is her first love with entrepreneurism coming in as a close second.
Kristin strongly believes in supporting small, family owned businesses as a way to build our community. She realizes that "shopping at big box stores is convenient, but shopping local gives us a sense of pride in our town. I am so grateful for all of the encouragement I have received along this journey."
