Fountain Lake to host Hines tribute

FOUNTAIN LAKE -- The Fountain Lake Alumni Association will host its third legacy tribute on June 7, honoring former Fountain Lake tennis and volleyball coach Pat Hines.

The Pat Hines Legacy Tribute will honor the contributions of Hines, who founded the schools' tennis and volleyball programs. This follows in the tradition of the school's football tribute in 2017 and basketball tribute in 2018.

When Hines came to Fountain Lake in the 1970s, she requested that tennis courts be built to offer another sport for students, and volleyball was added later. Both fledgling programs saw success early, with many players winning numerous titles. The programs also drew community support, with tennis matches being played both at their home court and at courts at Belvedere Country Club and DeSoto and Coronado golf clubs.

Born out of the physical education program, the volleyball program was introduced as another area for Lady Cobras to compete. Now under the leadership of Tina Moore, the program has grown, even competing for a state title multiple times.

Hines encouraged academic excellence and sportsmanship in addition to the basics of the sports. The event will allow the school, players, community and friends to show their appreciation.

Advance tickets are available, and for more information, contact Mary Sargo at 501-624-2121 by May 30.
