Braving the cold weather on Nov. 8, Glenn and Mary Ellen Laursen stopped by the James L. Whitby Chapter 5 Disabled American Veterans Outreach station at Kroger on Central to converse with the Chapter Commander Benny Arego. Mary Ellen, a United States Daughters of 1812 member, presented Arego with a star from a retired flag thanking him for his service in the U.S. Army. PACA to hold monthly meeting on Monday

The Park Avenue Community Association will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday.

Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at the Garland County Schools' Pre-K building, 220 Tom Ellsworth Drive.

The guest speaker, from Bancorp South, will provide information on home improvement loans and opening new accounts. Updates on Park Avenue events, new businesses, and projects will be discussed.

HS Area Quilt Guild to meet Thursday

Hot Springs Area Quilt Guild will meet Thursday in the Fordyce Room of National Park Medical Center.

The election of officers for the upcoming year will be held.

Social hour will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5 p.m.

Bring donations of baby blankets, booties and caps and pillowcases for the hospital.
