Melting Pot Society to hold meeting

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Melting Pot library, 649-B Ouachita Ave.

The program will be a video presentation about "Finding missing people in the census," one of many by Crista Cowan "The Barefoot Genealogist," a news release said.

The video contains 10 key tips on searching the census records for people who may have eluded researchers during normal search attempts.

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society is collecting annual dues of $25, which includes monthly newsletters and its annual publication, The Kettle.

The library and meetings are open to the public. The library has more than 10,000 publications/CDs/microfilm and fiche and several public-use computers. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday or by appointment, 624-0229.

The library staff is an all-volunteer group of people interested in preserving and making available to the public the histories of families of Garland County and other areas.
