A Hot Springs woman was arrested early Monday after allegedly hitting her husband with a baseball bat during an argument at their residence.

Christie Yvonne Carter, 48, of 114 Shady Vista St., was taken into custody at her residence shortly before 12:30 a.m. and charged with third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Carter, who has no prior criminal history other than traffic violations, was being held on zero bond and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 11:50 p.m. Sunday, Hot Springs police responded to a reported disturbance at Carter's residence and made contact with her husband, who stated he and Carter had been arguing for several hours "over marital issues."

He said around 10 p.m., they both began destroying each other's possessions and at one point both used a baseball bat to smash items, including mirrors and a car windshield.

He said that around 11 p.m., Carter had the bat and struck him across the back with it. Officer 1st Class Randy Rodgers noted the husband had redness and swelling and a mark "that appeared to correspond to a bat hitting him on the left side of his back."

Carter was questioned and reportedly admitted to all the allegations of the incident except hitting her husband, which she denied. She was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

• A local man was arrested Saturday evening for allegedly exposing himself and engaging in self-gratification in a public park after another man reportedly recorded video of him with his phone and showed it to police.

Joey Bruce Manning, 61, was taken into custody around 5:15 p.m. at Carpenter Dam Park on Powerhouse Lane and charged with public sexual indecency, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Manning was later released on $1,000 bond and is set to appear Feb. 18 in district court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Powerhouse Lane in the park and spoke to a witness who stated he was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot when he noticed an older white male with purple hair and purple eyebrows engaging in a sexual act on a park bench near the back of the lot.

The witness had video of the incident, which he showed to Officer Tyler Cox who noted the footage was consistent with the man's statement. Cox went to the lower section of the park and spotted the man from the video still sitting on the same park bench.

The man, identified as Manning, initially denied the allegation, but after being shown the video he stated, "I didn't know anyone was watching." Cox notes that in the video Manning appears to notice the witness watching and shifted in his seat so he was facing the witness and looking right at the camera in the video.
