Magic Springs Theme and Water Park plans to hire around 400 seasonal employees for the opening of the park, with the first hiring event of the season set for Tuesday.

Five more hiring events are planned throughout March and April, park officials said. The park begins weekend operations in April.

Michael Wampler, director of sales and marketing, said the jobs will cover a wide variety of options, "everything from admission to ride operations," as well as security, lifeguards, EMTs and food services.

While there are a few jobs that require the employee to be at least 18 years old, Wampler said they are also looking for employees who are 16 or older.

"This is the perfect first job," he said, noting the jobs teach the "fundamentals of job responsibility" and "life lessons (they) will carry forward."

Stephanie Murders, human resources manager, said the summer seasonal jobs can lead to multiple positions.

"A lot of kids start in high school and work up to team lead and then supervisor," she said, and many of these employees will come back during summers while they are college students.

She said the park will work with the employees on their schedule, noting they can plan around activities such as school, band, choir and football.

Both Wampler and Murders noted these seasonal jobs could also end up being the first step toward a career. Wampler noted he started his career as a seasonal employee at Six Flags Over Georgia back in 1972.

In addition to the teens and college students, Murders said they will also hire numerous retirees for the season. "We love retirees, There's a sense of maturity, a sense of responsibility," Wampler said. Murders added this "gets them out of the house," and gives them some extra spending money.

Wampler said the park is looking for energetic, enthusiastic employees who are reliable.

The hiring event follows a rehiring event the park held two weeks ago which Wampler called "one of our most successful," with around 150 past employees rehired. He said they will likely have 200 rehires this season.

Those interested in employment, Wampler said, need to first visit https://www.magicsprings.com/jobs, where job application forms can be filled out. At the job hiring event, prospective employees will be broken up by which job they are seeking, and they will then have an interview.

Wampler said the only position that requires prior certification is an EMT. Those who are hired to be lifeguards will also have to go through training and certification after they are hired.

Murders said if the position the person is seeking is "not a fit," she will then meet with that person to try to help them find another position in the park.

The first hiring event will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday. Additional hiring events will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, and Thursday, March 12. There will also be hiring events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, Saturday, March 21, and Saturday, April 4. All events will be held at the park.
