A local felon on parole was arrested late Sunday on multiple felony charges after allegedly trying to shoot his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend with a stolen gun that misfired.

Deshon Jouante Woodfork, 25, who lists a Lily Ruth Court address, was taken into custody shortly after 11:30 p.m. and charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, aggravated assault on a family or household member and theft by receiving of a firearm, each punishable by up to six years, and possession of a controlled substance, Xanax, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Woodfork remained in custody on a zero bond parole hold and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court. He was convicted Dec. 12, 2016, in Garland County Circuit Court of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, and sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was later paroled.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Palmetto Street regarding threats made with a firearm.

The victim, 22, states she and her boyfriend had arrived at her residence and were walking to the front door when Woodfork, who is the father of her child, pulled up in a black Chevrolet Tahoe and began yelling at the two of them.

She said Woodfork tried to get into a fight with her boyfriend and then pulled a pistol out of his waistband and pointed it at both of them. She said he pulled the trigger, but the pistol misfired, and then he got into the passenger side of the Tahoe.

When officers arrived, they had been told the suspect with the gun was in a dark-colored vehicle and located the Tahoe parked across the street occupied by two men, including Woodfork, who was taken into custody.

In searching the Tahoe, officers reportedly found a .45-caliber pistol under the front passenger seat where Woodfork had been sitting. The gun was loaded and a computer check showed it had been reported stolen out of Georgia.

The officers also found a baggie in the glove compartment containing seven Xanax pills.
