Several area athletes were able to get their annual sports physical last week at Orthopaedic Center of Hot Springs.

Dr. Michael Hubbard and his staff welcomed the student-athletes to the clinic Wednesday for the physicals, a news release said.

"We've been especially careful to ensure the safety of our student-athletes, our staff and our patients for these physicals," said Dr. Hubbard. "Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, these types of screenings are perhaps more important than ever before to ensure that our student athletes are ready to participate in their 2020 athletic events."

The evaluation includes measuring height, weight, blood pressure and heart rate as well as evaluating the athlete's posture, joint strength and flexibility.

Students were required to wear a face covering and bring only a single family member who was also required to wear a face covering, and both the student and family member underwent a screening process before entering the clinic.

"We are committed to our area schools and athletic programs and want to help ensure their success," said Dr. Hubbard.
