Ruthie D. Dawn, 76, of Hot Springs, Ark., died on Friday, April 9, 2021, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs.

She was born on Feb. 14,1945, in Sparkman, Ark., to the late Mae Bell Blevins and Odell Wesley. Ruthie retired from the Hot Springs School District after 35 years of dedicated service in the culinary department and bus transportation. She was a member of the East Congregation at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Olfria Dell Kelly and great-grandchild, Wale Anderson.

Survivors include her sister, Irma Ward; daughter, Belitha Counts, of Hot Springs, Ark.; son, Walter Dawn Sr. (Connie), of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren, Rulitha Counts (David), Constance Dawn, Racquel Dawn, Xzavier Anderson and Walter Dawn Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Maliyah Nealey, Jasmeynon Brown, Arianna Jones, Khailen Anderson and Walter Dawn III.

Funeral services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, Ark.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021, at Carrigan's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Ark.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at New Walters AME Zion Church, in Hot Springs, with the Rev. Anthony Nero as eulogist. The body will lie in state for viewing at the church from 1 p.m. until funeral time. Burial will follow at Harmony Community Cemetery in Sparkman, Ark.
