The 2021 "Holiday Traditions" Christmas Parade, hosted by Oaklawn Rotary Club of Hot Springs, will start at 6:30 p.m. today in downtown Hot Springs.

The parade will proceed from the intersection of Central and Whittington avenues south through downtown before turning east on Orange Street and ending in the 100 block of Broadway Terrace.

Whittington, between Park Avenue and Willow Street, will be closed from 5 p.m. until all the floats have moved onto Central and Central, between Arbor and Orange streets, will be closed from 6 to 8:30 p.m., the city said in a news release.

Detour signs and barricades will be in place and motorists should use an alternate route when traveling through the area.

"After a one-year absence, the Christmas Parade returns with renewed enthusiasm and excitement," Hot Springs Mayor Pat McCabe, who was announced as the Grand Marshal last month, said in a news release.

"See the creativity of the floats, spectacular light displays, and enjoy the jolly excitement of the atmosphere! Don't forget to wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and bring a bag for candy," the release said.
