PLAINVIEW -- Bobby Joe Hood of Plainview, Ark., transitioned from this life to eternal life on Jan. 22, 2021.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1941, at Hot Springs, Ark., to Ervin Buster and Flossie Texas Marrall Hood. Bobby was one of 14 children born to this family.

He was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ, where he was actively involved in the annual VBS, Children's Wednesday Night Program and the annual Coats for Kids Benefit, as well as taking care of the building maintenance. He had the "heart" of a servant and helped anyone who needed help.

Bobby was a true "Jack of all Trades," having completed training and receiving licenses as a master plumber, master electrician and HVAC License, Septic Tank License, LP Gas License and was also a master carpenter. He owned Hood Plumbing and later was co-owner of City Plumbing, Heating and Electric Inc. in Hot Springs, before he sold his share and moved to Plainview, Ark., where he was in semi-retirement. However, he kept busy all the time building and helping others. He left a positive mark on every place and every person he came in contact with.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Nan Gossett Hood, of 31 years, and his first wife, Kathy Hood; his daughters, Sherri DeAnn Hood Carroll and husband Ronnie of Jessieville, Deidre Thurman and husband Chris of Plainview; one son, Jared Keeney Hood of Rogers. He is survived by two grandsons, Tyler Carroll and wife Jessica Whitlow Carroll and Christopher Thurman of Plainview; and three granddaughters, Stephany Carroll Smith and husband Willias Smith of Hot Springs, Adrianna Thurman of Plainview, Reagan Carroll Oliver of Jessieville.

He is predeceased by a son, Steven Mark Hood, whom he loved and cared for immensely.

He has 11 great-grandchildren, MaKayla Smith, Abigale Carroll, MaKenzie , Avery and Zoey Smith, Gabriel Carroll, Hattie Thurman, Gideon Carroll, Cash Oliver, Lucille Haney and Magdalene Carroll (in order of oldest to youngest), whom he loved to spoil.

He is survived by his siblings, Ervinlene Breshears, Jerry Hood, Ray Hood, Helen Warren, Ronald Hood, Joyce Bonner, Wayne Hood and Kay Jackson. Bobby has an extra-large extended family that he adored.

Bobby is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Josephine Crawford, Verlene Montgomery, J.B. Hood, Cecil Hood and James Hood.

Visitation will be at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville, Ark., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021. Please wear a mask and social distance.

The family will hold a private funeral ceremony and will have a memorial celebration in the spring at the Farm and Dog Trot for all other extended family and friends.
