A Malvern woman arrested Saturday for burglary after reportedly being caught inside a closed local restaurant is facing an additional felony charge after it was discovered Monday she lied about her identity.

Samantha Anne Buckholz, 36, is now charged with a felony count of nonfinancial identity fraud, punishable by up to six years in prison, in addition to the original charge of commercial burglary, punishable by up to 10 years.

She remained in custody Tuesday with her bond now set at $6,000 instead of $3,500 and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court on both charges.

Buckholz was initially found by Hot Springs police inside the Subway restaurant, 3302 Central Ave., shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday after they responded to a burglar alarm. Security video reportedly showed how she entered through a side door and began filling a trash bag with bags of chips and plastic utensils and also grabbed a toolbox.

Buckholz, who appeared disoriented when confronted by police, reportedly identified herself to officers as Kenya L. Conklin, 36, and was arrested under that name.

On Monday, around 11 a.m., HSPD Cpl. Rod West and Officer Christian Ramirez went to the Garland County Detention Center after the woman claiming to be Conklin had reportedly told deputies her real name was Samantha Anne Buckholz.

Deputies were able to confirm the woman's real identity after comparing Arkansas Crime Information Center photos of both the real Conklin and Buckholz to her.

The affidavit did not indicate what if any relationship Buckholz might have had with Conklin or if they even knew each other.
