Normalcy not happening

Dear editor:

In reference to the fact-laden reply by Mr. Ford to Mr. Foshee's letter, let me ask you a few questions.

Why did you guys spend four years making up conspiracy theories against President Trump? Russian spy theories, Russian asset theories, Russian money laundering theories, and expect someone to take your word for anything? You built a case against innocent people in an effort to overthrow a dually elected government and now you want to lecture anyone about your moral high ground? You place spies in a campaign, in the United States, in an effort to destroy that campaign, all the while lying about it! You destroy American patriots' lives and bankrupt them with lies paid for by the taxpayers because you can. You use campaign funds from the Democrat party to pay spies to make up evidence. You are told the information is untrue, yet you use it anyway. You destroy freedom of speech through tech oligarchs and destroy our practice of freedom of religion through unlawful actions taken by a secularist government. You soon will attempt to destroy our Second Amendment right to "keep and bear arms" by labeling every conservative supporter of our president as domestic terrorists and will be aided by your complicit hacks in the FBI and Homeland Security. Merrick Garland is no mistake for the Democrats and liberals. He is the most anti-gun activist judge ever appointed to the attorney general position. His coming plans and rulings will totally alienate over two-thirds of the voting public and if you think voting fraud reaction was extreme, wait until he bans semi-automatic rifles and handguns.

Your president is allowing COVID infected, illegal immigrants to be bused all over our country and are telling citizens we cannot open schools, churches, restaurants and small business of American citizens. No one is laughing. If these noncitizens can be bused all over this country with no regard for the citizens, I am ready to drop the mask and continue on with life and let the chips fall where they may. The rules definitely do not apply to the illegals.

He has taken the socialist wing of his party and made it mainstream. He has designated patriots as enemies of the state. He has taken conservatives and categorized them as crazies. Our president is incapable of performing basic job requirements and he babbles about what he does know. I am waiting with great expectation on his State of the Union Address. I do not think we will see or actually relish that presentation. No, I do not think normalcy will be seen anytime soon.

These few facts were to try and explain why there is no trust in this administration. With all of this you question our integrity and belief in conspiracy? You can lie to us some of the time, but every day for four years has a profound effect. Conspiracy theories become mainstream. We can agree to disagree on fact-checkers of President Trump. I did not always agree with him, either. Trump was a president for all and it just kills the socialist agenda. President Trump took divisive tactics such as racism claims and used it against them by helping every demographic succeed. What President Trump accomplished will never be correct or acceptable to socialist Democrats. It ruins their control!

Great America still here

Dear editor:

There have been several recent letters supporting Trump and his governance of this country. A few years ago there were two main political parties in the U.S.; both contained mostly honest Americans who were really concerned with the protection and health of our great nation. John McCain was a great example of those people.

We now have the Democrats, the Trump/Putin Republicans (TRs), and the former Republican Party which has lost much power and influence. The TRs have shown great power by broadcasting lies, rumors, and hate. They have a secret national policy committee that writes draft state laws, disseminates them to the 17 TR-controlled Republican states, and they all become identical state laws. The prime example of that power is the recent abortion law implementation. The TRs have no interest in human life; they are just buying the votes of those who do believe! The House and Senate are full of TRs who vote lockstep with what they are told; noncompliance brings rebuke from the national committee of TRs. The attack on our Capitol is a prime example of fueling hate with lies and then supporting the attackers with cover-ups! That is not American.

The bottom line is that the TRs are attempting to overthrow our national government and replace it with a Putin/Hitler-type dictatorship! That government will formulate the rule of money and political influence as the laws of the land. Look at Russia today; the people have no power, just Putin and the oligarchs. TRs, wake up to the lies, hate, and rumors you are being fed; that is not the United States of America.

The cure for the virus

Dear editor:

The illustration on Page 7A of The Sentinel-Record, Feb. 25, depicting 1,370 headstones as representing the 500,000 who have died due to the virus, was as disturbing to me as the day I stood among the crosses in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Most of these military personnel died defending our freedoms, but what did the virus victims die for?

Our country has suffered other pandemics in the past such as smallpox (estimated to have begun in 10,000 BC and eradicated in 1979), polio (1916-1955), influenza (1918-1920), etc. Untold trillions have died and we wonder why. Many believe viruses are the work of "Mother Nature" (whoever she is) culling mankind; others that they are part of life, and very few claim that God is trying to get our attention that a larger worldwide pandemic is coming.

Whatever may happen today, tomorrow or in the near future, every one of us has a day and time when we will die physically (Heb. 9:27). The Apostle Paul said some will not die but their bodies will be instantly changed "in the twinkling of an eye" (1 Cor. 15:51-52). Our soul will not be destroyed with our body, but exist forever.

Many of us should be thinking about where we will spend eternity instead of worrying about the pandemic, wars, or the earthshaking events of nature. A right relationship with God should be our focus while there is still time. He is our Maker (Isa. 40:28), Sustainer (Zech. 9:15a), loving Father (Mal. 2:10a; John 3:16a), and Judge (Ps. 9:7-8). Jesus Christ spoke about two directions in life and the one we will choose to follow: the straight and narrow "gate" that leads to eternal life in heaven, or the wide one that leads to eternal death (separation from God) (Mt. 7:13).

One of the greatest pandemics mankind has been battling since the world began is the Sin Virus. It causes us to reject God's promises and His Son, Jesus, whom He allowed to die for our sickness because we have all transgressed and have not measured up to His standards (Rom. 3:23). The payment for our sins is death (Rom. 6:23). The cure for this Virus is our inoculation of Jesus. Ask God to forgive you of your sins, believe that Jesus died for you and was raised up from the grave. Receive Him as your Savior and the Sin Virus will be gone. Have you been healed from the virus of sin?

Two different worlds

Dear editor:

My father was born in 1927 and died just a few years ago. As the space race approached the moon landing, he often said that he never thought he would live long enough to see a person on the moon. His first car was a Model T Ford. The moon was a long way off when he was growing up. He did not expect to see it happen.

I was born in 1949 and have seen a similar path of many unexpected developments. I may or may not have many years left. We will see. What I never, ever expected to see in my lifetime is something equally historic; the disintegration of our society, and by extension, our government. I am watching and feeling it happen right now. My father's realization was exciting; mine is frightening.

Doin' Time For Kids

Dear editor:

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the members of Zeta Chi, a chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, sponsored Doin' Time For Kids, a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital located in Memphis.

A very heartfelt thank you goes out to all the "Jailbirds" who worked so hard to meet their bail. We also want to thank Orr Cadillac and Judy Langeder for allowing Zeta Chi the opportunity to use their showroom for this fundraiser, however, because of COVID-19 and the terrible snowstorm we were unable to be at their facility this year.

We appreciate the following Jailbirds: John Holt, Kathy Reed, Brenda Richardson and Bill Wood, who are not members of Zeta Chi, for supporting us in raising their "bail money." In addition, Zeta Chi Member Jailbirds included Karen Akins, Regenia Bettis, Coni Hall, Roberta Hatcher, Anne Head, Peggy Holt, Ann Martin, Sherry Miller, Kathy Nichols, Jerri Roper, Glendalyn Spicer, Sharon Turrentine, Betty Wood, Ginger Yates and Shelby Church.

This past year has been very difficult for so many of us! Despite the challenges, and due to your compassion and generosity, Zeta Chi was able to raise $21,472 for continuing research at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

We are excited about the success of this wonderful worthwhile project and want to thank the community and all of those who gave donations to this cause. We will see you again next year!
