A local resident reportedly fired a pistol at two masked men who broke into his home and were trying to steal his television Thursday, saying he was "just aiming to scare the suspects away."

The resident, 21, who lives on Sour Rock Springs Road, off Albert Pike Road, said that around 3 p.m. Thursday two males wearing black masks broke into his home and were trying to steal his living room television, according to a Garland County Sheriff's Office incident report released Friday.

He told investigators he was lying on his bed when he heard someone inside his house "rummaging around." He said he got out of bed and "peeked around the corner" where he saw two men attempting to exit his residence with the television.

When he stepped out to confront the two men, one of them, who was wearing a red hoodie "reached for something" in his hoodie pocket. At that point, before the suspect "could pull anything from his pocket," the resident said he fired one shot with a Hi-Point pistol.

The resident stated he "was not aiming to hurt anyone" and was just trying to scare the suspects away from his residence.

Later in the day, the resident called investigators to report he had discovered a computer and smaller 32-inch television missing from his house.

According to earlier reports, the suspects fled the scene in a black or dark-colored Suburban-type vehicle. Sheriff's Deputy Courtney Kizer said it was unknown Thursday if either of the suspects were injured in the incident and as of Friday they had not been located.

The incident was still under investigation Friday.
