A local woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon for felony assault and other charges after allegedly hitting her boyfriend with her car after several failed attempts.

Jessica Nicole Ferguson, 34, who lists a West Miracle Place address, was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m. and charged with a felony count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, punishable by up to six years in prison, and misdemeanor counts of third-degree domestic battery, theft of property and disorderly conduct.

Ferguson was being held on a zero bond and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 1:45 p.m., Hot Springs police Officer Aaron Combs responded to Sutherland's, 1831 Albert Pike Road, regarding a battery that had just occurred and spoke to the victim, 37, who alleged he was attacked by his "significant other," identified as Ferguson.

He said he was with Ferguson in a silver Hyundai Elantra when they got into an argument and Ferguson punched him in the nose, causing an injury. He said he began grabbing his belongings and got out of the car.

While he was still attempting to gather his things, Ferguson allegedly began driving the car around the parking lot and attempted to hit him several times "without regard for the safety and potential risks" it could cause him.

Finally, Ferguson allegedly drove at the victim and struck him with the car and then fled the scene. A female witness in the parking lot told police she saw the woman in the Hyundai hit the victim with her car causing him to fall over "after making many attempts."

The victim told officers Ferguson might be at another local store nearby, noting she "has done things like that in the past." Officers began searching and located the Hyundai at Walmart, 1601 Albert Pike, a few minutes later.

They made contact with Ferguson and determined she had a failure to appear warrant through the Garland County Sheriff's Office, so they arrested her. In searching her, officers allegedly discovered she had stolen $135 worth of merchandise from Walmart before they got there.

While attempting to question Ferguson about the stolen items and the incident at Sutherland's, she reportedly became "very irate" and started screaming profanities in the parking lot and repeatedly banged her head against the patrol unit cage once she was put in the back seat.
