The home of Andy and Golden Lloyd, 140 Oakwood, has been selected as the April Yard of the Month by the Garland County Master Gardeners.
"The Lloyds have called this 'home' for the past 21 years. Their charcoal gray brick home features accents of red from their front door to the chimney cap, the mailbox, hose guards and flower pots. The owners have used flag stone for the patios, the walkways, and edging of the foundation plantings that include red camellias, ferns, gardenias, and petunias," a news release said.
"For the Easter season, they have yard art featuring whimsical rabbits and an Easter egg tree for their grandchildren. When you view the home from the front, you will see a pergola on one side that draws you into the backyard where you will find Japanese Maples and a three-tiered water fountain. There are birdhouses on the privacy fence along with metal flowers, antique toys, and other yard art. Plantings of peonies, iris, daffodils, day lilies, and azaleas make this a perfect area to relax and enjoy," it said.
Golden Lloyd's "love of gardening is evidenced throughout her yard. She, also, enjoys helping her neighbors and even plants her children's yards. Andy is the muscle man who does the mowing and edging. Congratulations to the Lloyds as being the April Yard of the Month recipient," the release said.
