A local man allegedly recorded on security video during two burglaries was arrested Sunday morning on multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants.

Donald Vincent Wilson, 53, who is a felon, was taken into custody on Oaklawn Street shortly after 11 a.m. and charged with two counts of residential burglary, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison, theft of property of a firearm and possession of a firearm by certain persons, each punishable by up to six years, and two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and one count of theft of property, all misdemeanors punishable by up to one year in jail.

Wilson was being held on an $18,000 bond and was set to appear Monday in Garland County District Court. According to court records, Wilson was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2006 and sentenced to five years' probation, which was revoked multiple times and he was sentenced on Oct. 6, 2014, to three years in prison.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 14, a local man and woman reported their residence on Sellers Street was broken into around 10 a.m. that day, which was captured on security video.

The video reportedly showed a white male arriving at the house in an older model Toyota Solara and getting out carrying a backpack with "what appears to be a hammer." The man then forced his way through the front door of the residence and could be seen leaving several minutes later and his backpack appeared to be "fuller than when he entered."

The victims reported several items missing, including five knives, two rifle scopes, a coffee can with about $300 in change and a Glock 34 handgun, for a total loss of about $1,350.

The woman told police she later learned of a woman who owns a 1999 Solara and that the woman's brother, "Donnie," was the one who broke into their house.

Detective Matthew Cheatham located the owner of the Solara and confirmed she had a brother, identified as Wilson, and he compared Wilson's driver's license photo to the security video and allegedly identified him as the one breaking in. A computer check also revealed his felon status.

On July 21, Cheatham was also able to identify Wilson as the actor in a burglary from April 23, 2021, where he allegedly broke into a residence by prying the hasp from a door and stole $200 in change from inside.

There was also security video of that burglary and Cheatham was able to match the suspect seen breaking in to photos of Wilson. Warrants in both the cases were issued on July 26.
