Pearcy woman's car reportedly stolen by man she met through dating app

A Pearcy woman reported Saturday that her car was stolen by a man she met through a Facebook dating app, according to a Garland County Sheriff's Office incident report obtained Monday.

The woman, 33, who lists an Airport Road address in Pearcy, filed the report around noon on Saturday alleging that she met a man, age not listed, online through the dating app and agreed to pick him up at the Valero, 4198 Malvern Ave., around 2 a.m. Saturday.

She said they went "riding around" until about 5 a.m. and then went to her residence where they both fell asleep.

The victim states she later woke up and discovered her vehicle, a black 2007 Kia, valued at $1,500, and the man were both gone. She noted her wallet was in her vehicle so it was also missing.

She said she checked her Facebook messages and found where the man had sent her a message stating, "I went to get gas and a change of clothes so don't freak out."

But later in the day, she discovered the man had blocked her on Facebook and she was unable to contact him. She later filed the complaint with sheriff's investigators which was still under investigation Monday.
