Melting Pot Genealogical Society Monthly sets meeting

The Melting Pot will hold its regular monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Melting Pot Genealogical Society Library, 649-B Ouachita Ave.

The program will include a video presentation about "What to do when you can't find a birth record."

"This video is one of many by Crista Cowan 'The Barefoot Genealogist' and contains several alternate methods for establishing age and potential birth dates. There will also be a short interview with Crista Cowen explaining some of the recent changes to the Ancestry platform," a news release said.

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society is collecting annual dues of $25, which includes monthly newsletters and its annual publication, The Kettle.

The library and meetings are open to the public. The library has more than 10,000 publications, CDs, microfilm and fiche, and several public-use computers. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday or by appointment, 501-624-0229.

"The Library staff is an all-volunteer group of people interested in preserving and making available to the public the histories of families of Garland County and other areas," the release said.
