A Bismarck man was arrested on a felony warrant Friday morning stemming from allegations he made numerous threats to kill his juvenile son and "cut his body parts up."

Shawn Dean Mondeck, 50, who lists a Tomahawk Lane address in Bismarck, was taken into custody shortly before 11 a.m. Friday and charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Mondeck, who lists no prior felony history, was later released on a $5,000 bond and is set to appear on March 13 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 6, 2022, Garland County sheriff's Investigator Heidi Bernard received a report from a Garland County woman that her ex-husband, identified as Mondeck, had threatened to kill their juvenile son.

She stated that on Dec. 3, Mondeck had called her and made several threats to kill the son, who was present during the phone conversation which was audio recorded and a copy provided to Bernard.

During the conversation, Mondeck allegedly made several statements in reference to killing the victim and admitted to telling his son "to his face" that he would "kick his (expletive)" and kill him. He reportedly told his ex-wife he would drag the boy into the woods, "cut his body parts up" and "be done with him."

He allegedly stated, "These are not idle words" and that he would kill him.

On Jan. 25, Mondeck came to the sheriff's office and consented to an interview with Bernard after being read his rights. During questioning, he allegedly admitted to making the threats "out of anger." He said he "didn't mean what he said, but he did make the threats."

Bernard obtained a warrant for Mondeck's arrest on Jan. 31 and he reportedly turned himself in at the detention center.
