First Presbyterian Church with other area churches joined together during the 2023 Easter se ason to offer the community a Lenten series hosted each week at a local participating church.

The "Let's Go Back to Basics" six-week series offered visitors a brief worship focusing on the blessings of Jesus' Beatitudes followed by a simple lunch. Presented on Mondays, and open to the public, this first event was "such a success the group is now making plans to make this an annual Easter season event, adding even more church pastors and faith communities to participate," a news release said.

"This was the first and we were all pleasantly surprised by the crowd at the first meeting at Westminster Presbyterian and the crowds only grew each successive week," the Rev. Leslie Roper, senior pastor at First Presbyterian of Hot Springs, said in the release.

"A collection was taken over lunch each week and given to Project HOPE, which helps to support the feeding ministries of each congregation involved. In total, we were able to donate $2,870.50 to this community ministry. We are looking forward to this becoming an annual tradition for the Hot Springs community," she said.
