A Hot Springs parolee was arrested on multiple felony warrants Monday in connection with a reported home invasion in February during which he allegedly assaulted an 82-year-old woman and kidnapped a second woman who was later able to escape.

Charles Allan Stanley, 36, who lists a Talisman Street address, was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of East Grand Avenue on felony charges of kidnapping and residential burglary, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison, second-degree battery, punishable by up to 10 years, first-degree terroristic threatening, punishable by up to six years, and a misdemeanor count of third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Stanley was being held on a $830,000 bond and was set to appear Wednesday in Garland County District Court.

According to court records, Stanley was convicted on Oct. 8, 2018, on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and sentenced to six years' supervised probation, and on Dec. 3, 2021, of possession of a firearm by certain persons and sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was later paroled.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 23, shortly before 2:30 p.m., the Garland County Communications Center received a 911 call from an 82-year-old woman living on Wicker Terrace regarding an aggravated residential burglary and kidnapping that had just occurred.

Deputies responded to the residence and spoke to the woman who stated a man she knew only as "Charles" had broken a window and kicked in the front door of her house, pepper sprayed her and then shoved her to the floor.

She said the man then grabbed another woman, 35, who was at the residence, "threw her over his shoulders" and took her from the house "against her will." The first woman was transported to a local hospital for decontamination from the pepper spray and other medical treatment.

The second woman was eventually able to escape and also spoke to deputies, stating she had heard the window break and someone kicking in the front door. The door came open and she told the first woman "to run and hide" and then saw the intruder pepper spray her as she ran to a back bedroom and locked the door.

The woman said the intruder was her ex-boyfriend, identified as Stanley, and noted she went into the bathroom off the bedroom and locked that door also. She alleged Stanley broke through both doors and grabbed her, threw her over his shoulder and carried her out the front door.

She said she and Stanley went down the road and she noted he still had the pepper spray in the pocket of his hoodie. She said Stanley told her if she didn't meet him in an hour he was going to come back and "kill them all."

She said she made a comment about video from the security cameras and they started to walk back to the house and at that point she was able to get away from him and he then fled the area.

Investigators responded to the house on Wicker Terrace and got permission from the owner's son to search the residence for evidence. They also obtained security video that reportedly showed a white male breaking into a bedroom at the house and then breaking into the bathroom. He was also seen grabbing a woman and "forcibly removing her" from the room.

Warrants for Stanley's arrest were issued later that same day.
