Fountain Lake High School senior first baseman Gabryella Garcia has been a key part of the Lady Cobras' success on the softball field so far this season.
Led by head coach Sarah East, Fountain Lake, at 3-1, has outscored its opponents by an average of 12 runs per game -- its lone loss coming in a 5-4 home loss to Mount St. Mary Academy on March 5.

Garcia recently met with The Sentinel-Record to give people a glimpse into what she is like beyond the diamond. Garcia, who began playing softball her freshman year, also plays centerfield and is a right-handed hitter.
What do you like most about playing softball?
Just the memories of the people I play with.
What is your most memorable moment playing softball, even going back to when you were a kid?
One of my favorite memories is the bus rides back from away games. They are like the best ever and you just get to talk and actually get to meet people.
Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
No
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sports?
I work at Starbucks. I am a barista. I love making coffee. I love making drinks. I love to read, listening to music and going to church.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Definitely a night owl.

Greece

I love Red Robin's. I love a good burger.

Something that has always stuck with me, that my dad told me, is nothing is free. You have got to work for it.

What are your plans for after graduation and what type of career do you plan to pursue?
I want to be a respiratory therapist. I want to pursue that and I want to go to National Park (College) as well.
