A second victim has died from her injuries sustained in a triple shooting that occurred Friday evening in the 200 block of Beard Street, the Hot Springs police spokesman confirmed Monday morning.

"I just spoke with the detective (working the case), and he confirmed Mahayla Swayze passed this weekend," Officer 1st Class Omar Cervantes told The Sentinel-Record.

"Detectives are still actively working this investigation," he said. "As of yet, no arrests have been made."

Swayze, 20, and Adrianna Howell, 20, were both found inside a parked vehicle in front of 201 Beard St. with "bullet wound injuries," at around 5:15 p.m. Friday after police responded to a shooting in that area. Howell was pronounced dead at the scene while Swayze was transported by LifeNet to a local hospital, police said in a news release late Friday.

A juvenile male gunshot victim was located in the 200 block of North Patterson Street with a non-life-threatening injury to his leg and was also transported to a local hospital. Cervantes told the newspaper the male had fled from the scene on Beard Street immediately after the shooting to the location on North Patterson, so police "had two crime scenes" at that point.

It was noted Howell was found in the driver's seat, and Swayze was in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

"If you have any information regarding this investigation, please contact the Hot Springs Police Department at 501-321-6789," Cervantes said in the release.
