Dear editor: Thanks to marathon participants

Dear editor:

Participants in the inaugural running of the Jack N Back Half Marathon on Jack Mountain, March 22, enjoyed a truly spectacular event. I would like to especially thank the founding organizers -- Dr. Dow Stough, Eric Wegner of SportFit 360 and Marisa Rodgers of the Render Creative Group -- as well as the sponsors and many volunteers, such as Dr. Tim Webb, who taxied participants to the starting line, and Lauren English, who gave an inspirational singing of the national anthem. It was indeed a special, memorable day.

Monies raised will benefit the Cooper-Anthony Child Advocacy Center, which provides passionate services to victims of child abuse, and the Our Promise Foundation, an organization dedicated to provide caring, professional support and education to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.

This race will only grow in popularity, attracting running enthusiasts to Hot Springs who want to enjoy the incredibly beautiful scenery that the challenging course provides.

Again, let me thank the organizers who conceived such a wonderful event, the generous sponsors and volunteers who made it possible. Finally, congratulations to the runners who persisted in "Kicking Jack."
