HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- "Smokey Joe's Café" transforms classical pop music into compelling musical theater for the Hot Springs Village Concerts Association season opener.

The event is presented by HSVCA from Sept. 9-12 at Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village with access through either the west or east gates in the Village.

The lobby area opens at 6:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7:30 p.m.

Described as "electrifying entertainment featuring 40 of the greatest songs ever recorded," each song is a trip down the corridors of American culture.

The record-breaking Broadway show opens the HSVCA 2014-2015 season which will include four more performances between September and March.

The association offers subscription memberships with tickets to all five shows at a lower rate than individual tickets to nonmembers.

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote all of the songs of "Smokey Joe's Café" such as "Dance with Me," "Fools Fall in Love," "Poison Ivy," "Kansas City," "Jailhouse Rock," and "Hound Dog" except "Spanish Harlem" which was written by Leiber and Phil Spector.

Tickets can be purchased on line through http://www.hsvpoa.org.
