The Hot Springs Women's Chamber of Commerce made a donation to Webb Center to provide matching funds for the West Central Arkansas Planning and Development District grant. The grant from WCAPDD in the amount of $20,000 is a matching grant, to be matched by donations, in-kind services and in-kind supplies for building renovations at center.
Women's Chamber of Commerce President Lauri Adams commented in the press release that, "the vitality of our community is highly dependent upon the knowledge and capabilities of our young people. The Webb Center is working to motivate and empower our area youths to make a positive difference in our community and we wholeheartedly support their efforts to renovate the center. We hope others will join us to help match the funds provided by West Central Arkansas Planning and Development."
Bill Watkins, executive director of Webb Center, indicated that the renovations are underway and will be completed in 2015. Additional grant funds are being sought for an after-school tutoring program, technology for the center, and other activities. For more information, contact Watkins, 623-7491.
