NAACP member talks on organization mission

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Unit 6013, secretly founded in hotel linen closets on Malvern and Central avenues in 1942, will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at Webb Community Center, 127 Pleasant St.

The oldest civil rights organization in America will be addressed by missionary Wilhemina Beard, a life member of Unit 6013. A Wisconsin native, Beard is president of Roanoke Baptist Church Women's Mission. Her address will focus on the mission of NAACP.

The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served.
