CLEVELAND -- Andrew Wiggins will sign his rookie contract with the Cavaliers. It's still not clear if he'll play for them.
A person familiar with the negotiations says the Cavs will sign the No. 1 overall pick to his deal, an agreement that would prevent any potential trade involving the small forward from being completed for 30 days.
Wiggins has been linked to a possible trade with Minnesota for All-Star forward Kevin Love. The person familiar with the talks says Wiggins will sign with Cleveland as early as Wednesday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the team is not commenting on its plans.
The Cavs and Timberwolves have had ongoing discussions about a trade for Love since before Cleveland selected Wiggins first in May. The Timberwolves have always insisted that Wiggins be involved in any package, a stipulation the Cavaliers have resisted.
Last week, two people familiar with the discussions said the Cavs were still not willing to include Wiggins in a deal. It's not yet known if the Cavs have softened their stance on Wiggins, who played well during the team's summer league in Las Vegas.
The Cavs have considered acquiring Love and teaming him with LeBron James, who recently announced he was returning to Cleveland and signed a two-year, $42.1 million deal with the team. With Love, James and All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, Cleveland would have a "Big 3" comparable to what Miami had in James and All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

McDermott to deal
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls say they have signed Doug McDermott, their first-round draft pick and last season's college player of the year.
Terms of the deal involving the 6-foot-8 forward from Creighton weren't released.
The Bulls acquired 22-year-old McDermott after Denver drafted him with the 11th overall pick, then quickly traded him to Chicago.
As a Creighton senior last season, McDermott averaged a nation-leading 26.7 points, becoming one of eight players in NCAA history to score more than 3,000 career points.
The Bulls also announced Tuesday's signing of free-agent guard Aaron Brooks. The 6-foot, six-year NBA veteran last season averaged 9 points while splitting time with Denver and Houston. Terms were not disclosed.
CEO: Rivers leaving
if Sterling still owner
LOS ANGELES -- The interim CEO of the Los Angeles Clippers testified Tuesday that coach Doc Rivers told him he will quit if Donald Sterling remains the owner of the team.
CEO Richard Parsons made the statement at the trial to determine whether Sterling's wife, Shelly Sterling, can sell the team for $2 billion to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
The NBA has tried to force out Donald Sterling since soon after racist statements emerged on recordings in April.
"Doc is troubled by this maybe moreso than anybody else," Parsons said on the witness stand about Rivers, who is black. "If Mr. Sterling continues as owner, he does not want to continue as coach."
Parsons said he fears there would also be an exodus of key players, including team captain Chris Paul, who also is black and heads the NBA players union.
Parsons was about to give an account of his conversations with Paul but was stopped by an objection by an NBA lawyer who said it would be an invasion of privacy. The judge upheld the objection.
Rivers has said he had heard from other Clippers business employees that they didn't think they would be able to work for Sterling under the circumstances.
McCallum scores 29,
Kings win summer title
LAS VEGAS -- Ray McCallum had a few big moments toward the end of last season for the Sacramento Kings.
After a summer like this, he might have shown he's ready for plenty more.
McCallum scored 29 points and helped key a big Sacramento rally in the final minutes, as the Kings topped the Houston Rockets 77-68 Monday night to win the NBA Summer League championship game.
"It means a lot," said McCallum, as he held the tournament MVP trophy. "I've been trying to put in a lot of hard work this summer."
The Kings went 6-1 at Las Vegas, and McCallum more than saved his best for last. He scored a total of 55 points in his first six games in the tournament, then connected on 9 of 15 shots from the floor in the title game.
Ra'shad Jones scored 12 points and Nik Stauskas added 10 for Sacramento, which closed the game on a 27-10 run before a crowd of 7,603.
"This is a great way to start off an NBA career," Stauskas said.
Nick Johnson scored 17 for the Rockets, who got 16 from Donatas Motiejunas and 15 from Isaiah Canaan.
