Stand up and prove it

Dear editor:

I don't know if Steven Bank actually has "no clue" as Ms. Stringer says, but he certainly is adept at misconstruing what others say with his own misstatements. I never said you or others like you had never given to the Red Cross or some other charitable organization. I also did not say a Hindu or Tibetan had never been charitable. I said you'll likely never read a headline saying: "Atheists gather to feed the hungry as hurricane slams into coast." I actually believe you're probably more likely to read "Tibetans gather to help victims of hurricane."

I'm not sure you could calculate the amount in monetary terms Christian groups and organizations contribute to others less fortunate in the form of voluntary time and money, probably in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Yet they are often maligned by the likes of Steven, who no doubt pick up much of their hate from the left-wing propaganda machine. No doubt the same group that booed the idea of God being on their, Democrats, party platform.

This issue actually goes to the heart of the coming election. Mark Pryor, and to some extent Mike Ross, wants you to believe they represent the average Arkansan, who I believe is much more to the right than Obama or Pelosi. We know they, however, voted with Obama and Pelosi about 90 percent of the time.

I can't see into Mark Pryor's heart and mind. He has made ads depicting himself as a religious, Christian person. During the last Democratic Convention, he had a chance to prove it. I believe, like me, the average Arkansan when they heard those delegates booing God would have made a choice, to sit there and acquiescence to what was happening or if they had real character and integrity about an issue like this, would have got up right there and left the convention.

Had they actually shown backbone about what now they want us to believe they are, I would have respected them for it. Maybe even be planning to vote for them. I have to reach the conclusion with their tacit approval they supported the booing of God. So what kind of character do you have? Do you profess to be a Christian? Maybe it's time to stand up and prove it.
