Oaklawn Lions Club, an affiliate of Lions International, will have its annual Chicken/Rib Feed Friday at the Elks Lodge, 132 Abbott, off Section Line Road. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with dinner from 4-7 p.m. Cost is $10 a plate.

This event is the major fundraiser for Oaklawn Lions Club. In the press release, Lion Thomas O'Malley, president, says "this is the 33rd year we have produced the Chicken/Rib Feed. Every year, we have barbecue chicken or pork ribs, beans, coleslaw and bread. As in the past, the ribs will be cooked by Midway Bar-B-Q." Lion Bill Walker will cook the chicken.

Proceeds from the event help to support local charities, some of which include CASA, Elks Food Baskets, Glenhaven Youth Ranch, Humane Society, Jackson House, Blind Camp, Potter's Clay, Project HOPE, The Salvation Army, Samaritan Ministry, The Caring Place, Teen Challenge, Ouachita Children's Home and people in the community in need of glasses.

O'Malley says, "This is a family event that helps to support a lot of good things going on in the community. Come join us this Friday for a good meal and help others at the same time."
