Dear editor: Day of Prayer nears

Dear editor:

In Hot Springs on Thursday, May 7, we will come together as a whole to celebrate the annual National Day of Prayer. We are blessed and privileged to be able to come together in these United States of America and rejoice in our rights, privileges, freedoms and opportunities that we have been given, and to be a part of a nationwide day in which we join with millions, crying out to God on behalf of our city, our state, our nation and our world. Our theme last year was "One Voice United in Prayer," which prepared the way for our theme this year, "Lord Hear Our Cry." As we know, He not only hears our prayers, but He answers our prayers.

Our city is blessed to be the Model City of Prayer. We have seen increase and advancement as we have made national honor as being the supernatural state, and our city has gained recognition for Jesus Christ, the Living Water, flowing from Hot Springs across our land. We believe Hot Springs will be a key location in these days where shifts and changes are rapidly taking place in the world, and we will become a city of refuge. We have a responsibility to pray, in unity and faith, believing God to fulfill His plan and purpose. To whom much is given, much is required. And we have been given so much in this beautiful, God-blessed city.

This year, we have two opportunities, the first being at First Church of the Nazarene, 3804 Central Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Trinity Church, 670 Panama, from 7-9 p.m.

We invite you to attend and be blessed, and be a blessing.
