Jones Cemetery holds Decoration Day
Decoration Day will be held at Jones Cemetery, Highway 8 east, Amity, on Sunday. Singing will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Geology club visits Bear City Boomtown
Hot Springs Geology Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, 200 Whittington Ave. Guest speaker will be Richmond Edwards, college instructor in geology and biological science with the National Park Community College. Everyone is welcome.
The presentation will be on "Reflecting on Bear City Boomtown." Edwards will speak on the geology and the rich history of the Bear City Boomtown, its mines, the old boomtown, its colorful people, and share a discussion of new found facts about this gold and silver boomtown. Come make your way to Bear City, as attendees step back in time to old Bear City, Ark., in the 1800s and the color that surrounded the town so many years ago.
