Dear editor:
Google "Scientific lies." It staggers the imagination how many research projects are "fudged" to arrive at "scientific proof," including drug and other medical research projects. Every scientific lie has been generated by the desire for the money positive scientific research results create.
"Global warming" research is the worst of them. Very significant scientists on both sides of the issue speak vehemently to their position, belittling those who disagree with them. Huge sums of money are involved in the process.
If global warming due to burning fossil fuels is that dangerous to our world, threatening it with massive floods, storms, droughts, rising temperatures and rising oceans, why don't we do something about it? We are trying?
We are deeply troubled by the disagreements between politicians and climatologists, both of whom disagree with problem and solution. We are deeply troubled by the damage all energy production systems can do or could do to our environment. We are deeply troubled by the growing demand for more and more energy for survival and the need for employment opportunities.
Solutions? The automobile points the way. We are more than willing to accept the risks of driving for the opportunities driving offers -- even though thousands die each year. Risks are also a part of adequate production of energy. So it seems the only remaining solution today for adequate cheap energy is nuclear, despite its risks.
Risks can be diminished, but risk-free living is never an option, not in the mining of coal, driving a car, riding a bike or in the promise of medicine.
